It was a hot summer day in 2009. A group rented a dozen canoes and took the trip from Kinzua Dam to AO. When they pulled into our old launch near the Glade Bridge, they only had a handful of their boats. When we asked 'em where the rest of the boats were, they told us they got tired, so they left them upriver, near a steep hillside on the right side. Just as they told us this, you could hear thunder way off in the distance. One of those classic hot summer Pennsylvania thunderstorms was moving in.

Without delay, a bunch of the AO crew jumped in a van and headed up Hemlock. We found our boats and lugged 'em up over the hillside, one-by-one. Just as the last boat was being carried overhead, up over the guard rail, the skies opened up, and Sugar Magnolia came came on the radio.

We decided at that moment that this was a story that needed to be remembered!
