Allegheny River Canoe Camping Gear Checklist

Allegheny River Camping

Every summer we help hundreds of Scouts, camps, friends and families plan and conquer multi-day trips along a 107-mile stretch of the Allegheny River. We often get asked our recommendations for a gear checklist specific to the Allegheny. You'll find that list below.

Please remember - although close to our small towns, sections of the Allegheny River are vast and wild. Should you find yourself in an emergency situation on river, call 911. Cell phone reception other than Verizon is limited at best, often times nonexistent. Plan ahead. Let someone know where you're going and when you plan to return. Know the ability and skill level of those you're going with and don't overdo it. And please, please respect the islands and their campsites. We love our river. Pack it in, pack it out.

Need a map? Find 'em in our online shop. We also offer high quality camping gear rentals, vehicle shuttles and sell camping gear both online and at our brick and mortar store in downtown Warren. Not sure which section of river to tackle? Contact us for help!
